Styli Style + Accessories + Clothes Haul + FOTD

Posted by Caby on 2/09/2010 09:22:00 PM in , , , , , ,
Hey Girls, today I'll be doing a haul post from my recent purchases. If you remember from a few months back, I made an entry about Styli Style liners and how awesome they were. I had bought those for PHP400+ each at Beauty Bar and now I found out that these were selling on ebay at PHP60 - PHP75 each!!! Imagine the rip off I got at Beauty Bar!! So anyway, instead of pondering on the amount it was on Beauty Bar, I just bought the cheaper deals from Ebay. So here's my Styli Style Haul from MEG, an awesome seller from Ebay. :)

Styli Style Brow Liner in Esspresso
Styli Style Flat Lip Liner in Nude
Styli Style Flat Liner in Soho
Stylu Style Flat Liner in Hamptons
Styli Style Flat Liner in Midtown
Styli Style Flat Liner in Marbella

Freebie:
Meg is so nice she gave me a Creme Eye Trio as a freebie. :) So Sweet. :)

Review and swatch of each liner to follow. :)

Today I also received my Young Hollywood inspired bracelet from Aika. :) It is so beautiful I can't wait to sport it. :)

Moving on to other items, I was at my favorite Department Store: SM earlier today to do a little shopping. Here are the things I bought:

2 headbands with funky designs that can pass as statement pieces :)

Leopard print cotton bubble dress

Cotton vest with Stud design

Jersey Cotton top with zipper sleeve detail

There were so much more clothes I wanted to buy at SM but I had to stop myself since I plan to go clothes and accessory shopping in Singapore since I'll be there next week. SM has the most wicked clothing ever. I hardly go clothes shopping but I like being a little fashionista with classic pieces. I'm more of an accessories girl hence the bling bling head bands. I am into statement pieces and I am hard to please when it comes to clothing. I want each piece of clothing to be a statement piece on its own. But SM is an exception when it comes to clothing. I loveeee their clothes because they are so funky! Oh and don't forget about their shoes! They have such affordable funky shoes too! :) I am a certified SM Department store fan hehe. :)

Just to end my post, here's my FOTD doing the Prime Look that we did during makeup class last Saturday. I basically used the same products as my model Kathy except the different color of Graftobian Foundation. :)

Toodles! :)

P.S my Schedule will be crazy starting Thursday, I do hope to find time to blog within those days!

Button Earrings

Posted by Caby on 2/07/2010 11:02:00 PM in , ,

Aside from make up, another thing I enjoy is making my own accessories. I've made a couple of necklaces and earrings for my personal use. Just wanna share with everyone some button earrings I made last night. I'm really into button earrings and vintage-ish earrings. Nice ones are pretty hard to find therefore I made some. :)

I went on a search to look for very nice looking buttons to turn into earring and here's what I found. :)

Closer look of each

Ive made a couple of other button earrings a few weeks ago but can't find them. I really love button earrings coz they're classy looking because of its vintage-ish feel and at the same time very fashionable.

How about for everyone else? Aside from make up, what else tickles your fancy? :)

Toodles! :)

Make Up School Exercise #2 - The Prime Look (pic heavy)

It was a long and very fun day spent at school. We spent the first hour putting the base of the makeup up to the eye shadow, from what we learned in the last exercise. Everyone was on their toes since it was our first evaluation. It was soooo fun, after that we proceeded to our next exercise which is the Prime Look.

The prime look is the most basic of all basics when it comes to full makeup application. This is also called the 'No makeup look,' 'Natural Look' or 'Bridal'. This look uses the most simplest of products, with just using 2 shades of Natural eye shadow, 1 highlighter, 1 blush, 1 lipstick, eye liner and mascara. Of course all this on top of the base you created.

Here's a photo walk through of what happened. :)

Kathy's Before Photo

Kathy after the first evaluation (Base up to Eyebrows) Still need to do a little work on eye brows though. Practice Practice Practice!!

Me and Kathy while waiting for others' evaluations to finish

Then we did a half of the face in a step-by step lecture with RB, here's how mine looks on Kathy

On the right side is the finished product :)

Once we completed one side of the face, the task now was to be able to repeat the whole process on the other side of the face, but we were timed, we had to accomplish this in 15 minutes! The more pressure part is, that right after this came our 2nd evaluation! Yes that's right 2 evaluations in 1 Day!!

Here's the final look :)

By this time amidst all the pressure in the time limit and making sure both eyes and both sides of the face was even, I was a happy happy girl. :) When RB came over to evaluate my work, she took a 2 seconder look at Kathy then said EXCELLENT and gave me all 5's. I was shocked and I wanted to cry!! I swear it felt so good all the hard work reaps its rewards. I thanked RB so much and then we proceeded to the photo shoot area where some Photography students were having an exercise. They took pictures of our models with some accessories they brought along. I guess some exercise for their class. :)

Here's some of Kathy's behind the scenes images from that:

Products used on Kathy

Face:
Graftobian Creme Foundation in Buttermilk
Ben Nye Cover All Wheel Concealer
Ben Nye Banana Visage Poudre
Ever Bilena Powder Foundation in Oriental
NARS Blush in Desire
In2It Brow powder

Eyes:
UDPP
MAC e/s Shroom
MAC e/s Cork
MAC e/s Yogurt
Stila Smudgepot in Black
Fanny Serrano Black Eye Liner
Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara

Lips:
NYX B52

It was a long, fun, tiring but rewarding day at school today and I can't wait for next week! :) Till then, I will continue practicing the things I have learned and also work on areas where I struggle still. Yayyyy for school! :)

Toodles! :)

Boredom FOTD

Posted by Caby on 2/04/2010 01:29:00 AM in , , , , , ,
I have been pretty bored the past few days considering class was postponed last Saturday, we all wanted our makeup fix. Since I'm undergoing skin recuperation the past couple of days I've been avoiding makeup. Although I really couldn't help myself last night I just needed to put on make up. Just decided to do a simple look since all I wanted was to try my RCMA foundation.

What I used

Face:
RCMA Shinto 2-3 applied with a Stippling Brush
Ben Nye Cover All Wheel concealer applied with a beauty blender
RCMA Setting powder for face
Ben Nye Banana Visage Poudre for under eye, forehead and chin
Nars Casino Bronzer
Flormar Terracotta Blush in 45
In2It Brow Powder

Eyes:
Udpp
MAC e/s Soba base of lid
MAC e/s All that glitters for lid
MAC e/s Sable for crease
MAC e/s Vanilla for brow highlighter
Stila gel liner in black
Estee Lauder Mascara
Ben Nye fantasy fireworks wheel in gold for water line

Lips:
Nichido lip liner in Rosette
MAC lip glass in Oyster Girl

I therefore conclude RCMA is HG quality. It photographs well, enough said! :)

RCMA Color Process Foundation

Posted by Caby on 2/02/2010 04:12:00 PM in , , , , , , ,
One of the most favorite brands of makeup amongst MUA's in hollywood is RCMA. RCMA or Research Council of Makeup Artist Professional Products is a line created by Vincent Kehoe in the 60's. The line caters to 139 foundation shades, Blushes and about everything you will need for fx in films. RCMA was created for the profession of film, tv and print thus it is not commercially available. It has no marketing strategy what so ever, not even the packaging is attractive. RCMA is no frills and mainly focused on the development of the product. The most evident reason why this is a favorite amongst artist in the industry is the ability of the foundation to photograph well and how flawless the skin looks on camera whether video or still. Besides, RCMA foundation is 50% Pigmented! Definitely higher than those commercially marketed brands.

The first time RCMA was tried on my skin was when Maui and I had a make-up weekend when she got back from the states. And I was sold. I was crazy flawless, and the best part was If my skin was flawless in person, the better it looked on camera. So now I'm so happy I have them in my train case. :)

I ordered 2 RCMA weels, Wheel 1 is KO 5-8 and wheel 2 is Shinto 1-4. Shinto shades are created for the people who have yellowish-green undertones. Since that line became so famous, the KO line was created as fillers for the lacking shades on the current Shinto line.

Both wheels look very similar and actually almost identical, but after swatching and testing, you will see how different the wheels are from each other. Now proceeding closer at each wheel.

This is wheel KO 5-8, I bought this because I wanted a line that I could use for men. And upon reasearch, the KO 5-8 and Shinto 5-8 wheel were the ones recomended for males. But none the less this can also be used for females. :) I initially chose KO 5-8 instead of Shinto 5-8 because I was already getting Shinto 1-4 and didn't want another Shinto Wheel.

This is the Shinto 1-4 wheel with its corresponding swatch. Maui used Shinto 2-3 for my face months ago when it was first tried on me. And I am still Shinto 2-3. :)

Here's a photo of the KO and Shinto swatch together for comparisson.

Without Flash

With Flash

KO 5-8 Top Row
Shinto 1-4 Bottom Row

Now from the swatch they look very very very similar, but from what I have noticed, the Shinto line is a tad bit more yellow and warer than the KO shades. To illustrate further their differences, I mixed the first 3 shades of the top and bottom (since from the swatch the first 3 colors of KO 5-8 and Shinto 1-4 are very similar to each other).

Without Flash

With Flash

After mixing the first 3 colors each from the KO (top row) and Shinto (bottom row), the difference can now be clearly seen. The Shinto (bottom row) shows that it is warmer than the KO (top row). The KO definitely is the "in-betweens" of the Shinto shades. This is useful for those who aren't too keen on mixing their foundations.

Overall, I am very excited to use this and happy looking in my train case with these RCMA inside. I'll definitely use my RCMA foundation when I know I'll be taking pictures. Haha.

As a bonus, here's an image of me and my girls using RCMA foundation (taken months ago).

Ben Nye Creme Rouge Wheel

Posted by Caby on 2/01/2010 11:53:00 PM in , , , , , ,
Hey guys, here's another wheel from my Ben Nye Loot. This is the Creme Rouge Wheel, a wheel that comprises of 6 creme blush colors. I wasn't planning on getting the wheel since I ony wanted about 3 shades of their creme blush but then again, getting the wheel with 6 colors seemed like more of a deal since the 3 colors I wanted was part of the wheel. :) Aren't wheels love? :)

Swatches

Aren't the colors so vibrant and pigmented? :) First reaction upon swatching was how great the colors would be too for the lips, isn't that amazing? Dual purpose for one wheel!! :) Now I know why people rave so much about this creme rouge wheel from ben nye.

And just like the previous reviews on othe Ben Nye products, this goes lightly on skin and spreads easily. Perfect for everything! I can use this to the mall to give me that light flush to heavy makeup requirements that need intensive blush colors! This is definitely buildable and the best part is, I can even mix the colors to make new ones! :)

Love love lovee the colors, can't wait to use this out both as blush and lipstick. It looks like I won't be needing anymore creme blushes anymore. yayyy! :)

Are you guys loving Ben Nye yet? I definitely am! :)

Ben Nye Fantasy Fireworks Wheel

Posted by Caby on 1/30/2010 10:12:00 PM in , , , ,
One reason why I was very much attracted to Ben Nye is because of its wheels. Not only are you getting quality products but you are also getting these in bundles because of the wheels. Ben Nye has a number of wheels that serves the purpose for everything. These wheels consists of creme makeup, from metallics, mattes, for bruises and what have you. Ben Nye was first of all created as make up for movies so expect they have everything, and I mean everything! They are amazing I love Ben Nye!

Part of my Ben Nye Haul consisted of a lot of wheels. Here's another wheel that I got called Fireworks Fantasy Wheel. This wheel has all metallic cream colors which are in the neutral shades. Here it is:

Wheel consists of 6 colors all shimmery and oh so beautiful!!

Swatch without flash

Swatch with flash

These pictures of the swatch really does no justice to the product. It is way better seen in person or when you personally swatch the product. My initial feeling when I swatched the product was WOW, this is sooo pigmented! It is very creamy and goes on very smoothly on skin. This wheel will last me a while and I have the basic colors I need.

This wheel is best used on avante garde looks and for everyday too. This can be used as eye shadow base or alone. Do remember to set the creme colors with translucent powder when using alone. Also, remember to put a thin layer only so creasing won't occur. :) This product is awesome, it is so light on your skin! :)

Here's an image of me using 3 shades (Bronze, Gold and White) from the wheel as eye shadow alone. The creme colors weren't even set with powder yet. I used the Gold for my lids, bronze for the outer-mid crease and the white for the inner corner of eye.

Without being set with translucent powder

The look alone is very simple and good for everyday looks. When I stepped out of my room, my mom was amazed at how fresh I looked. This simple look gives my eyes that simple boost to make it look more alive. Loveeett! :)

This is definitely something I will be using more of in the future. :)

Ben Nye Cover All Wheel SK-1

Posted by Caby on 1/28/2010 09:35:00 AM in , , , , , ,
Hey Guys, part of my haul came with this Ben Nye Cover All Wheel in SK-1. I initially wasn't going to get any concealers since I still had my Cinema Secrets Kit #2 which I was pretty satisfied with. But then again I thought, might as well get one with the whole bunch since I might regret not getting it. So i just chose this modest 4-color wheel instead of their other concealer wheels with 6 colors.

0.5 oz

It comes in this very handy and portable wheel that is divided into four to accommodate all the colors. Here's what it looks like open.

I wiped off the moisture on top due to the unbelievable Manila heat

Now for the fun part, the swatch! :)

Swatch of Ben Nye Cover All Wheel SK-1

When I swatched the Ben Nye Wheel, I immediately thought off the CS kit#2 palette I had and saw how similar it was to that palette. In terms of the consistency too it is very creamy and pigmented. The cliche "a little goes a long way" applies to this palette. And to show its similarities I decided to swatch the CS palette below the Ben Nye.

TOP: Ben Nye Cover All Wheel SK-1
BOTTOM: Cinema Secrets Corrector Palette Kit #2

Based on the swatch of Ben Nye and Cinema Secrets it clearly shows that both brands show similar consistency of the creamy-ness and also they are at par with pigmentation. So that therefore merits a triple thumbs up for me! :) I found an alternative for my HG concealer!! Hurryyy! :) The only difference is CS has 5 colors in their kit and Ben Nye has 4, but the good part is the extra color CS has I never touched or need to use. So yayy still. :)

So To illustrate its concealing powers, I tried the Ben Nye on my own set of eyes. I mixed the first 3 colors of the Ben Nye concealer and applied the concealer using a Beauty Blender.

Note: You will only need very little of each because it is very pigmented

Now here's an image of me with the Ben Nye concealer on only the left eye. Please forgive the shiny forhead since I hadn't set the foundation yet with any translucent powder hehe.

Left: With concealer Right: Without Concealer

I have bad skin and deep bags because I sleep very late. So it is always a must that I conceal these. And from the image above showing only one side with the Ben Nye concealer, it is amazing to see how different is is from the other eye in an instant. So of course, here's the mage of me with both eye bags concealed with Ben Nye, again pardon the shiny forehead. hehe

Concealer only, no setting powder yet

All concealed! Amaziing!! :) Im am soo loving this Ben Nye Cover All Wheel now and this will be my staple concealer from now until I find another great concealer. Hehe the only con I see with this is that it isn't available locally, but that may change soon because I love it soo much! Yayy to concealers! :)

Yayy for Ben Nye! :)

Toodles! :)

BTW: Got my Skin Natural MD sample kit today, will be testing this for a while and let you guys know how it works on my skin. I'm soo excited! :)

While, since Thursday last week I had been calling them endlessly because I was just so darn excited! Yes girls, I do not own a credit card and that is by choice! I do not trust myself with one (I picture online purchases with a credit card as easy as buying candy in the sari sari store) and I don't like having debts, hence I do not have one, so thank you mom for letting me use your credit card. :) Here are other images of the loot. :)

The Quest for perfect brows

Posted by Caby on 1/26/2010 10:47:00 AM in , , , ,
Hey Girls,

As you all know, in our first exercise in LCI, practically everyone struggled with the eyebrows. The following reasons were, the brush used, the product used and the "I just can't do it" came about. So I practically couldn't sleep thinking about how to achieve the perfect brows.

I tried practicing on myself and my mom but still found myself struggling. So in the quest for perfect eyebrows, I decided to look around the market for products to help me achieve this. And i'd like to share with you what I recently purchased.

Fanny Serrano Eye Brow Brush PHP150

Super Dense

In2It eyebrow powder trio PHP299
Waterproof eyebrow colour
with the moisturiser vitamin E

Fanny Serrano Brush pressed against In2It Powder to show density

Swatch of the trio using the Fanny Serrano Brush

I have tried the trio and the brush on my own eyebrows but I have no image of this. I still haven't perfected the eyebrows so this is still in process. I will use these though for this Saturday's class which I will share pictures of. :)

Overall though, for the price and quality of both of these products they are definitely worth it. :)

On the other hand, my mom was kind enough to buy me this book:

Really didn't expect her to buy it for me, I was just joking with her but didn't expect her to say yes. But who am I to decline right? Accept every blessing that comes along hehe :)

How do you girls get the perfect eyebrows? :)

Make Up School Exercise #1 + MAC Workshop

Posted by Caby on 1/23/2010 09:45:00 PM in , , , ,
I always look forward to Saturdays now that I am back and continuing Artistic makeup at LCI and today was technically our first hands on exercise. We were asked to prepare the basics we needed for preping the skin and make up application and had a discussion on the 101s about face, eyes, eye brows and the likes.

We also tackled skin types and colors, how to determine skin tone, how to match foundation and how to mix for a certain skin tone. Thanks to Graftobian Foundation Palette, I had a wide range of foundation shades that didn't require me to mix foundation to match my model Mars.

The hardest part was creating the perfect brows! It was such a struggle especially since we were all used to doing brows in different styles that now we had to follow what was being taught. I spent so long trying to achieve a "good" from RB and kept re-doing mine. I definitely need practice. hehe And because everyone got stuck on the eye brows, well uhh we ended at eyebrows and no eye shadow application. But we had to get going too for a 2pm workshop at MAC Glorietta.

Here are a few photos from today's exercise:

Just after moisturizing face (Mars eto na ung pinaka matinong before picture haha)

Demo Foundation application care of RB on my model (I did the blending)

After foundation no concealer yet

With concealer and eye brow application (after the nthhhhhhhh tryy! Waahh!)

Because we only ended at the eye brows and had to proceed to Glorietta already, I just put blush, lip liner and gloss on Mars face to give her some color.

Her final look with flash

So here's a rundown on the products used on Mars face:
Graftobian HD Foundation in Buttermilk
Cinema Secrets Concealer Palette in Kit #2
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake in Chino to set Foundation
Ever Bilena Foundation powder in Oriental to set Under Eye
Ardell Brow powder for eye brows (major fail by the way Im so getting something else)
NARS Blush in Desire
Nichido lip liner in Rosette
MAC Lip glass in Oyster Girl

Next are just a few pics of the MAC workshop at Glorietta Maike was kind enough to conduct for our class. :)

Me and Odessa talk about oiliness! haha

Schoolmates! :)

That's all girls! :)

Super Steal Deal + Megan's giveaway!

Posted by Caby on 1/20/2010 12:15:00 PM in , , , , , ,
Hey girls, about two weeks ago, while I was at robinsons galleria, I came about a store that was selling really cheap bags. I went around found a BELKIN IPOD case for only PHP50 and I was sold! While I was at the counter in line, my eyes were drawn to a bag on the shelf. I started palpitating and immediately went towards the bag. And here it is:

A MAKEUP BAG!!

I WAS IN LOVE! It was a makeup bag! Once I held it, I couldn't let go, there were only 2 pieces left! and the best par, it was only PHP249!!!!

Here's what the bag looks like open, it's roomy and very spacious.

Although the bag doesn't have any trays inside like other make up bags, I have decided to use this bag to store my non make up products like creams, moisturizers, spritzers, make up removers and other accessories needed for a shoot and for make up school. :) I just placed a bag organizer to make it look more organized. :)

Here's a close up on the patern on the bag:

And here's what it looks like when hung:

Im really really pleased at the wonderful deal I got with my bag, the pattern and color goes perfectly well with my train case too! So happy about this. :)

Speaking of wonderful, Megan is having a great giveaway that you should all check out too!

Click on the image to direct you to Megan's Giveaway!

Have a wonderful day girls!!

Basics FOTD

Posted by Caby on 1/13/2010 12:11:00 AM in , , , ,
Hey Guys, I realized I haven't had a FOTD post in while so I decided to share with you this look. I actually have this look on for my upcoming website for my brushes. It's just a very simple look I did which I find really wearable for evryday and super simple to pull off. Here it is:

What I used:

Face:
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Barcelona
RCMA Translucent Powder
Graftobian Pro Powder Foundation to tone down foundation
Graftobian Pro Powder Foundation used as bronzer for contour

Eyes:
Ellana Awake Concealer topped with eye shadow
Dollface 28 Neutral Palette
Ever Bilena Black Eye Liner Pencil
Maybeline Mascarra

Lips:
Ever Bilena Lip liner in Red
MAC Lipstick in Captive

I'm really feeling this look because compared to my other FOTDs this has the least number of products. The idea of this look was to highlight areas I really wanted to highlight like under the eye, forehead and chin, and to really contour areas like my cheeks and jawline. This is so since the look was shot in Black and White, and with that, colors don't matter hence the highlight and contouring.

The winner in this FOTD is the Graftobian Pro Powder Foundation because it doubled as my bronzer for contouring. As I said in my review of the product, the shade I got which was Cleopatra ranges from an NC40ish-NC45 depending on how I choose to apply this. For this look, I used the Graftobian PPF to tone down my foundation using a big soft powder brush by swiping the brush twice on the product and using only that much for my whole face. While I used a small stippling brush for the contouring by siwrling the brush on the product and applying this below my cheekbones lightly as its coverage eventually builds. Here are the images of those brushes:

Big Soft Powder Brush

Small Stippling Brush

These two brushes are actually some of the brushes that are on testing stage for me right now which I may eventually add to my brush line, and so far these two seem very promising! :)

So please watch out for the launch of my online shop featuring brushes very soon! :)
