NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita

Don't you just love sudden splurges? I must say yes even though it burns the pocket. I made a sudden splurge yesterday at NARS, I finally purchased their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. I have been wanting this product for a long time now but the steep price always sets me back.

Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick in Dolce Vita
$24 in the States
PHP1300 in local Nars Counters
Purchased at: Rustans Shangri-la

"Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
Combining the convenience of a pencil with the application of a lipstick in a jumbo-sized crayon design, these pigment-rich sticks provide a matte, creamy finish that will not dry the lips. Enriched with emollients, vitamin E, and unique silicones, each gorgeous shade glides on and stays put.

Size: 0.086 oz"

Dolce Vita

After swatching Dolce Vita on the counter I knew this was a color that would fit my skin color. It looked naturally flushed but not too much. The best part of the product is the texture, "velvet matte" it really feels velvetty and is matte but does not feel dry.

The only thing about it is (aside from its price) is that it doesn't stay as long as my favorite MAC Pro Longwear Lipstick, you have to keep applying this product every now and then. :)

Here's me the same night I bought the lipstick over family dinner. I love the color :)

Toodles! :)

P.S Really sorry about the different font sizes, my blogger is acting up. lol

Happy New year FOTD!

Hey Girls! In my part of the world it is approximately 3 hours till the New Year. My mom had told me, that a lucky color for 2010 was blue. So I chose to wear something blue and do a FOTD with blue as an inspiration. I read somewhere that it is a faux pas to wear colors of make up the same as the color your clothes are. But what the heck, it's new year and I want all the luck I can get. Hehe

So here it is, my New Year FOTD.

What I used:

Face:
Graftobian Hi-Def Cream foundation
Cinema Secrets Concealer
Max factor Translucent Powder
NARS Bronzer in Laguna
MAC Irridescent Powder in Belightful
NARS Blush in Desire

Eyes:
UDPP
MAC e/s in Photorealism
MAC e/s in Deep truth
MAC e/s Fresh Water
Stil smudge pot in black
Estee Lauder Mascarra
Ardell Brow Filler

Lips:
Smashbox gloss
Nichido Pencil liner in nude
Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Skin

As we welcome 2010 we bring with ourselves the lessons that we picked up from 2009. Let us all give thanks to the wonderful year that we are about to leave and enter 2010 with full force and positivism.

Happy New Year Girls!! :)

ELF All Over Coverstick as dupe for NARS The Multiple

I don't really remember the reason why I bought this ELF cover stick but now looking at it again, I am happy I purchased this. Earlier today while I was looking through the contents inside my train case I picked up the ELF all over coverstick and swatched it.

Last month when I attended the Nars workshop with Marc Christopher Gale, one of the products we used was The Multiple in Copacabana. The Multiple is a multi-purpose stick for the eyes, lips, cheeks and body. You can practically use this stick for everything. The product has subtle shimmers which is great for highlighting and creating dewy glowy complexions. During the workshop, we used The Multiple as eye shadow base to give a bright glowing effect to whatever shadow you decide to put on. So where am I leading? Well today I discovered that ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon is a great dupe of NARS The Multiple in Copacabana.

Here is why:

All Over Color Stick

3 in 1 color for your eyes, lips, and or face! Get the color that illuminates for a healthy glow, and instantly soothes and conditions the skin for fresh and natural color all day long.

Here's the swatch on my hand:

Used as a base for eye shadow:

Swatch on the left is without the ELF coverstick and the one on the right is with the soverstick. From the swatch alone, you can see that the color is more vibrant. And because of the subtle shimmer of the coverstick it also gives the shadow a nice glow to it.

IMO the ELF all Over Coverstick is a perfect Dupe for the NARS Multiple. I don't own a NARS Multiple however when I tried it, I honestly felt I could do away with such a product since it's also very pricey at $37. But for those who are more of on the go type of people, or those who want to achieve a subtle glow to your look but on a budget, I suggest getting the ELF All Over Coverstick. The product is only PHP120 if I am not mistaken in any SM Deprartment Store. Also because of the cheap price, I suggest keeping one in your traincase just in case, you never know you may need this product for a certain situation. And with its many uses Im sure you'll be able to put this product to use.

P.S A few days till I turn 23. Still don't know what to do then. I hope my parents give me make up. LOL

Also just some reviews and posts to look forward to:

1. STILA Smudgepots in Black, Blue and Grey
2. Graftobian Foundation Palette in Warm 2
3. Graftobian Pro Powder in Cleopatra

Fuschia Lips!

I was never a lipstick person, on a normal day, I would usually just dab on some lip balm and go. Eventhough I have a lot of lipsticks and I purchase a lot of lipsticks too, sad to say I hardly touch them. So given that, I am also conservative when it comes to lipstick shades. Whenever I do wear lipstick I stick to the neutrals, browns and nudes. I hardly do red, orange, purples or pinks because I reckon it doesn't suit me. Hence my idea for this FOTD.

FUSCHIA LIPS, this color is something I would never go out with since I really don't think it suits my color. But heck, I said i'll try it for this FOTD. :)

I was searching through the Internet and found a photo of Kim Kardashian sporting a fuschia lip and decided to use her image as an inspiration for my look. So here it is. :)

Face:
Cinema Secrets Concealer Palette Kit #2
Cinema Secrets foundation shade 49 and 62
RCMA Loose Powder to Set
NARS Bronzer in Casino
NARS Blush in Desire

Eyes:
MAC paintpot in Soft Ochre
120 Palette Silver all over lids
120 Paette Black for crease
MAC Liquid liner in Boot Black
AVON eye liner in black
Ever Bilena eye brow pencil in Brown

Lips:
Burt's Bees Lip Balm
32 Lip Palette Hot Pink Color
32 Lip Palette Fuschia Color

NYX Round Lip Gloss in Peach

At first I was pretty scared that I wouldn't be able to pull off the color and it will just look terrible on my skin color. It shocked me though at first as I was applying the first couple of strokes on my lips. But after the succeeding coats, it was sort of growing on me and I am happy at the outcome.

Here's Kim Kardashian's pic, my inspiration look for this FOTD. I love her skin, she's beautiful!

I'm happy that I was brave enough to try a bright color like fuschia for my lips. This is a first so I do hope that this is a start for trying more lipstick shades out there. :)

I attended this afternoon's workshop with Maui and 2 other ladies, just the 4 of us so very intimate with Marc. He is amazing! We did a step by step starting from scratch.

Here's a pic of me and Marc after the workshop:

NARS Blush Duo in Albatross and Sin

After our class yesterday, me and Maui went around glorietta to check on a few more Make Up items that we still were lacking. We practically went around all the make up stores and somehow couldn't realy find what we were looking for. When we passed by the NARS stall, I swatched NICO highlighter blush and fell in love! But I had to remind myself IT IS NOT PART OF THE LIST I NEED FOR SCHOOL. So we left and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Until Maui left to go home and I was left alone waiting for my college friends.

So what happened? I went back to the Nars stall to have a "second look". Hahaha Robbie the SA in glorietta was super friendly and help full. He recommended me the NARS blush in SIN first and applied on my cheeks. By then I was convinced of getting the SIN over NICO. But I just couldn't get over NICO still coz it was soo beautiful. The Robbie tells me that there is a DUO blush in SIN and ALBATROSS, a sort of close highlighting shade from NICO. So he showed me, applied it just above my cheekbone, brow bone and above my eye brows. And the duo was just stunning. So yes I ended up getting it. :) Robbie also included some samples of foundations so he made me very happy :)

Here it is:

Albatross and Sin

Swatch on fingers
Left: Albatross Right: Sin

Both the sin and albatross are very pigmented and both are perfect together. Price is a little steep though at PHP1950 although it is definitely worth it and cost efficient for getting the duo as oppose to single blush purchase priced at PHP1350.

Here's me using Sin and Albatross at only one side of my face hehe

What I used for the rest of my face:
MAX FACTOR loose translucent powder
NYX Thalia lipstick
Ardell Brow filler

As of the moment my 30pc brush set is drying from the bath I gave them this morning, I really hope to try and test them sooon!!! Can't wait hehe :)

Happy Sunday Everyone, be happy Pacquiao just made himself Millions of dollars richer, let's hope and pray that he decides to donate the money to pay the debts of the Philippines hahaha!
