Make Up School Exercise #1 + MAC Workshop

I always look forward to Saturdays now that I am back and continuing Artistic makeup at LCI and today was technically our first hands on exercise. We were asked to prepare the basics we needed for preping the skin and make up application and had a discussion on the 101s about face, eyes, eye brows and the likes.

We also tackled skin types and colors, how to determine skin tone, how to match foundation and how to mix for a certain skin tone. Thanks to Graftobian Foundation Palette, I had a wide range of foundation shades that didn't require me to mix foundation to match my model Mars.

The hardest part was creating the perfect brows! It was such a struggle especially since we were all used to doing brows in different styles that now we had to follow what was being taught. I spent so long trying to achieve a "good" from RB and kept re-doing mine. I definitely need practice. hehe And because everyone got stuck on the eye brows, well uhh we ended at eyebrows and no eye shadow application. But we had to get going too for a 2pm workshop at MAC Glorietta.

Here are a few photos from today's exercise:

Just after moisturizing face (Mars eto na ung pinaka matinong before picture haha)

Demo Foundation application care of RB on my model (I did the blending)

After foundation no concealer yet

With concealer and eye brow application (after the nthhhhhhhh tryy! Waahh!)

Because we only ended at the eye brows and had to proceed to Glorietta already, I just put blush, lip liner and gloss on Mars face to give her some color.

Her final look with flash

So here's a rundown on the products used on Mars face:
Graftobian HD Foundation in Buttermilk
Cinema Secrets Concealer Palette in Kit #2
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake in Chino to set Foundation
Ever Bilena Foundation powder in Oriental to set Under Eye
Ardell Brow powder for eye brows (major fail by the way Im so getting something else)
NARS Blush in Desire
Nichido lip liner in Rosette
MAC Lip glass in Oyster Girl

Next are just a few pics of the MAC workshop at Glorietta Maike was kind enough to conduct for our class. :)

Happy New year FOTD!

Hey Girls! In my part of the world it is approximately 3 hours till the New Year. My mom had told me, that a lucky color for 2010 was blue. So I chose to wear something blue and do a FOTD with blue as an inspiration. I read somewhere that it is a faux pas to wear colors of make up the same as the color your clothes are. But what the heck, it's new year and I want all the luck I can get. Hehe

So here it is, my New Year FOTD.

What I used:

Face:
Graftobian Hi-Def Cream foundation
Cinema Secrets Concealer
Max factor Translucent Powder
NARS Bronzer in Laguna
MAC Irridescent Powder in Belightful
NARS Blush in Desire

Eyes:
UDPP
MAC e/s in Photorealism
MAC e/s in Deep truth
MAC e/s Fresh Water
Stil smudge pot in black
Estee Lauder Mascarra
Ardell Brow Filler

Lips:
Smashbox gloss
Nichido Pencil liner in nude
Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Skin

As we welcome 2010 we bring with ourselves the lessons that we picked up from 2009. Let us all give thanks to the wonderful year that we are about to leave and enter 2010 with full force and positivism.

Happy New Year Girls!! :)

December Wishes

Its December already, and my does time go by fast. This year has gone past in a breeze, a lot of things have happened and fortunately I consider them good things. :)

This year has been full of love. I welcomed the year with my love my boyfriend, I entered a job closer to what I studied in college and of course, my passion for makeup has just evolved.

I always look forward to December not only because of Christmas but because December i also my birth month! :) I always feel this every year. The feeling that December just came too fast and too soon, but it still shocks me every time. It just sucks though how sometimes, well quite often than not I end up celebrating my birthday and Christmas at the same goes for presents haha.

I turn 23 this year but I wish I was 21 forever hehe. I really feel that next year once January sets in, whatever I decide to do next in my life has to be the goal and what I really want to do. I have declined a few job offers recently that would pay bills but I know in t he end it will make me unhappy. Therefore I really have to be sure with my next steps. And right now, I really am considering make up as a profession. I have taken the first few steps, enrolling into LCI, my make-up brush business (Coming veryy soon!) and taking on a few make up gigs to immerse myself in the environment. I am also highly considering another step that will stenghten my make up passion further although it entails a really big investment so I really have to be sure about the current path I am taking. I have wanted nothing less now except for make up, I even stopped lemming about luxury bags haha so given that, here is my birthday Christmas list:

1) "I am also highly considering another step that will stenghten my make up passion further although it entails a really big investment so I really have to be sure about the current path I am taking." -- I really want this *fingers crossed*

2) A whole line of HD Makeup; Foundations/Concealers/Translucent Powder from: RCMA , Graftobian, Cinema Secrets.

3) Ben Nye Grand Lumiere Palette

4) Beauty Blender - I know some people selling it here but without the cleanser, but I am highly contemplating since I find PHP1200++ still quite expensive for just one sponge and no cleanser. So I dunno, I hope I get one for my birthday or Christmas. Or get my brother to buy one for me *ahem*ahem* Hello brother If you are reading this. :)

Basically right now, those are the things that I really want, I'm kind of obsessed about creating a perfect base for makeup thus the beauty blender and HD makeup. I have my Cinema Secrets ones but I still need some in other colors. Oh, there are some brands too that I want to try like: Joe Blasco, Face Atelier and Yaby Cosmetics.

Even though I'll be a year older this month, I'm glad to celebrate my Birthday and Christmas happy in love and beautiful because of makeup haha.

Fuschia Lips!

I was never a lipstick person, on a normal day, I would usually just dab on some lip balm and go. Eventhough I have a lot of lipsticks and I purchase a lot of lipsticks too, sad to say I hardly touch them. So given that, I am also conservative when it comes to lipstick shades. Whenever I do wear lipstick I stick to the neutrals, browns and nudes. I hardly do red, orange, purples or pinks because I reckon it doesn't suit me. Hence my idea for this FOTD.

FUSCHIA LIPS, this color is something I would never go out with since I really don't think it suits my color. But heck, I said i'll try it for this FOTD. :)

I was searching through the Internet and found a photo of Kim Kardashian sporting a fuschia lip and decided to use her image as an inspiration for my look. So here it is. :)

Face:
Cinema Secrets Concealer Palette Kit #2
Cinema Secrets foundation shade 49 and 62
RCMA Loose Powder to Set
NARS Bronzer in Casino
NARS Blush in Desire

Eyes:
MAC paintpot in Soft Ochre
120 Palette Silver all over lids
120 Paette Black for crease
MAC Liquid liner in Boot Black
AVON eye liner in black
Ever Bilena eye brow pencil in Brown

Lips:
Burt's Bees Lip Balm
32 Lip Palette Hot Pink Color
32 Lip Palette Fuschia Color

NYX Round Lip Gloss in Peach

At first I was pretty scared that I wouldn't be able to pull off the color and it will just look terrible on my skin color. It shocked me though at first as I was applying the first couple of strokes on my lips. But after the succeeding coats, it was sort of growing on me and I am happy at the outcome.

Here's Kim Kardashian's pic, my inspiration look for this FOTD. I love her skin, she's beautiful!

I'm happy that I was brave enough to try a bright color like fuschia for my lips. This is a first so I do hope that this is a start for trying more lipstick shades out there. :)

FOTD inspired by Makeup by Mario

It's been a while since my last FOTD so I decided to do one for today. One of my favorite make up artist is Mario Dedivanovic. He does make up for tons of stars like Kim Kardashian, Adriene Bailon and a whole lot more. I really love how he puts on make up for his clients. What I noticed about all his looks is that he creates a perfect base making the face look uber flawless. He doesn't use so much products also, but he stil manages to accentuate the best features of a person's face.

My inspiration for this look was Kim Kardashian's Birthday Look. I didn't have the exact products Mario used for her face but I tried nonetheless using the products I do have. Here's my interpretation:

Pics taken using SLR with Flash

Pics taken using Photobooth (no flash)

I just realized I look so different with the flash and with the photos taken from the Photobooth. Most probably because with the Photobooth, you can't really distinguish my hair color and my contacts aren't seen hehe. Oh well, here's what I used to achieve the look:

FACE
Cinema Secrets Foundation in 62
MAX Factor Translucent Powder to set
Nichido Blush in Peach Glow
Smashbox Fusion soft lights in Baked Starburst
MAC Iridescent powder in Belightful

EYES
Cinema Secrets Concealer palette in Kit #2
Light Gold from 120 Color Palette for lids and brow bone
Copper Bronze from 120 Color Palette for Crease
Avon eye liner
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara
Brown eye shadow from 28 Neutral Palette

LIPS
01 Nude Lip Liner from Ever Bilena
NYX Circe lipstick
MAC Oyster Girl Lipglass

BRUSHES
All brushes used are from the Dashe 30pc Set! Yayyy finally tried them! :)

I really love reading Mario's blog checking out his latest works. I wish to be his client one day! He's awesome! hehe

Who are your favorite make up artsts?

Cinema Secrets Haul and other stuff!

Because I am crazy and I am addicted to make up, I dragged my butt all the way to Quezon Ave. (I live in Paranaque, for those residing outside Manila, Paranaque is down south while Quezon ave is all the way up north, in other words IT IS FAR!!) to go to the Cinema Secrets showroom. I have long believed in the staying power of Cinema Secrets Ultimate Cream Foundation.

It was approximately 12 years ago that I stepped foot in the Cinema Secrets Showroom, I was 12 and I was there to accompany my aunt. We had been going around the metro to look for body make-up. See, she was an actress back then and her skin is white as milk. The directors of the movie and her role needed her to be tanned. After hours going in and out of cosmetic stalls in malls, we ended up in cinema secrets. There she didn't just haul, she HOARDED LIKE CRAZY! It is up to this day the biggest hoard I have ever witnessed with my presence. She bought sooo much it was crazy! If I remember correctly she had bought like 40 pieces of ultimate foundation in different colors. Her total bill? PHP30,000 (approximately $600USD) and that was back in 1999! Cinema Secrets was way cheaper then than what it is worth now. It was crazy!

A few years later I was in college, I stumbled on my aunt's make up (whom by that time was no longer active in show business and had stored all of her things in our spare house next door) and found 1 full sized cinema secrets pot. I swatched the product under my eye and was amazed its pigmentation. Since then it was my ultimate everyday essential. I was a sophomore in college and didn't really have a make-up craze unlike now. The pot lasted me more than a year! I was impressed. When time came I needed a new pot, I decided to check the kiosk but *sigh* too much that I could afford with my college girl allowance (I wasn't make up crazy then so I relied on free make up i.e pasalubong clinique promo bags hehe) because I couldn't afford it, I opted for VOV which was okay too. :)

Years later I was reunited with Cinema Secrets when I purchased the concealer palette in kit #2 from Maui. It's now my HG concealer, I'm just sad that the casing gave up on me and now I keep it protected using a rubber band and stored in a ziplock.

Now that I start make up school next Saturday, my biggest worry out of all was having a variation of foundation shades for all skin tones. And because now I'm practically broke from the fees and the make up crazy things I have been purchasing, my wonderful and beautiful supportive mother has been generous enough to lend me money for the make up I need for school. Like what she says, it's your investment anyway (so let's forget about the time she bought me figure skates because i wanted to be a skater but i lasted only 1 competition or the time I said i'll self study violin and be the greatest so she bought me a violin and for a year now I only know 1/4th of twinkle twinkle little star ! ---ERASE MEMORY-- ). I am serious this time. Promise :)

So I excitedly went to the Cinema Secrets showroom in Quezon Avenue to check out the foundies. I decided to go to the showroom and not the mall so that I could see the whole spectrum of shades and just stay there and play. Haha Also, they have lots of items that go on sale too in the showroom! And I LOVE SALES! You just have to look carefully and inspect the product you're getting. So because I wanted more for my money, I got the ones on sale. And here they are :)

Without Flash
With FlashAll the shades are from the 500 series and from the website, it is described as an extended series for caucasian skin, 500 Series have a light pink to pink beige and mixture of deeper pink and coral beige tones.

Sounds odd I know, but i tried the yellow undertone series the ones meant for Asian skin, it was just too light for me. All the shades for that are mean for fair chinese girls. The shades I got were perfect and easily blended on my face. Photos were taken after I had sanitized each pot.

Shades from Left to right:
PS516S-6
PS514S-60
PS512S-49
PS509S-62
PS503S-29

Here are the swatches accordingly:

Without Flash

So I got these shades so I can just mix and match for school and on people with skintones that have no match. I also bought the cinema secrets moisture spray for the purpose of mixing different shades together. Excited! I am excited!! :)

So while I was enjoying my time at the showroom, my best friend Ivan came by waited till I finished and we headed to Camp Suki to choose his costume for Halloween. That place is insane, It has all the costumes you need! And since his uncle is Lito Perez, the owner and designer of the place it was even more fun choosing and playing around with the costumes. We had a good laugh, check me out in a Thai dancing budha head gear.

And finally yayyy!! I am enrolled in Artistic Make up at LCI with Maui. :)

Picture taken from Maui's Blog :)

Classes start next week. It is gonna be sooo much fun! :)

Okay so that was my crazy day. Halloween tomorrow although it's signal number 2 right now in Metro Manila. I do hope this goes away by tomorrow leaving the Philippines with no harm.

It's goodnight in this part of the world.
