Lime Crime Lipstick in Countessa Flourescent and Centrifuschia

When I saw swatches and pictures online of people wearing Lime Crime lipsticks, the first thing I that came to mind was literally "WOW", the bright lipsticks were so hard to resist that I just needed to get me at least 1. But before I usually purchase a product, especially If I have to buy it online, I do a ton of research so that I won't regret the color I'll be getting. In to my research, I was getting pretty skeptic because of the mixed reviews. So I decided to get the lippies that had the more positive things said about them, the lippies I got are:

Countessa Flourescent and Centrifuschia

Countessa Flourescent Swatch (Top)
Centrifuschia (Bottom)

From the bright swatches, there's no question that your lips will be the focus that everyone will notice right away. That's what I love about these lippies, they can stand on their own.

I decided to get Countessa Flourescent because the reviews said that this was the closest shade compared to MAC's famous Candy Yum Yum, now I love Candy Yum Yum and I'm super sad I only got 1 tube. The fear of running out of Candy Yum Yum haunts me, so I decided to get this Lime Crime dupe. It did not fail, it is as bright and as amazing as Candy Yum Yum. Even my mentor and friend RB Chanco thinks so too. :)

On the other hand I chose Centrifuschia too well, just because i thought it was a pretty color. Hehe. Again it did not fail me, it goes on so smoothly, lasts long and hardly bleeds. :)

This is me wearing Centrifuschia

I've had these lippies for a few months now and I'm pretty happy with their performance, though here are some tips to note down if you are planning to buy Lime Crime Lippies:

- Some of their lipsticks after applying settle in a funny way. This was one major consideration and one of the biggest negative review of the lime crime lipsticks that I read. Some of their lipsticks settle in the lines and look oily (my experience with Countessa Flourescent), BUT, do not fear, here are some solutions to avoid this:
a) Use a lip brush to apply, I've noticed that this way it doesn't settle
b) If you don't have a lip brush, apply lipstick directly on lips, Blot, and re-apply.

- The lippies also have a tendency to bleed, so I suggest using a lip liner first. :)

- These lipsticks last long, and have lip staining ingredients in them. So at the end of the day, give your lips a good scrub to make sure that no residue is left on your lips. :)

Hope this review helps! :)

What's been keeping me busy

Hi girls,

Yes yes, I know I have been absent in the blogger scene for the past couple of months (almost 3 to be exact). But I do have a valid reason for that, my work has been taking the driver seat in my life for the past couple of months and it has been nothing but bliss. :)

Here's what has been keeping me busy for the past couple of months:

Print Advertorials

Advertising work

eLive on some Saturdays

Shoots

Shoot with CS Toledo

My sister's wedding

Star Power 5 girls:
Angeline, Akiko, K-La, Monica and Krissel
From their journey in the show until the finals, from Star Power to Asap.

So that's a glimpse of what has been really keeping me on my toes for the past couple of months. It has been tiring but super duper fun! :)

Btw, please please grab a copy of CHALK Magazine March 2011 issue, me and Maui have an article there. :)

Beauty Feature in CHALK Magazine August 2010 Issue

Hi girls, if you know me personally Hyper would be one of the words you would probably use to describe me. Now I am more than Hyper and excitement than ever. Why? Because Chalk Magazine's 10th year anniversary issue (August 2010) is now out! I'm excited because this issue features moi yours truly and Maui in their Beauty pages. :)

Me and Maui did make up for 2 real girls who both go to school talking about how their beauty and fashion has evolved in the last 10 years. :) We really had fun during the shoot and now I'm super happy its out. :)

Here it is:

I did Lexi's (left) makeup while Maui did Honey's (right)

I had so much fun doing this and would like to express my gratitude for this wonderful opportunity. These things are what makes hard work really pay off. :) When I decided to pursue make up, it has been nothing but blessings. Thank you. :)

The wonderful shots were taken by Chad Tyler Meadows, Hair was by Jay Wee. :)

Super Duper thank you to Michelle Katigbak-Alejandro CHALK's Beauty Editor and RB Chanco my mentor. :)

How I pack for makeup gigs! :)

Hey girls, since my life has revolved around make up recently, I'd like to share with you all how I pack my kit for make up gigs. :)

Leather black mallet is the train case with a lighted mirror while the regular one is the silver train case on the floor

I have 2 train cases and 1 prep bag. I don't bring both train cases because that would be impossible to carry hehe. I also don't need that much space. Depending on the gig, I switch between the one with the lighted mirror or the regular one. :)

Comprised of atomizers, cleansers, moisturizers and tools

To organize my prep bag, I placed a bag organizer inside. This bag organizer doubles as a retouch bag useful to place only the needed make up and brushes. Super useful when doing films, TVCs or TV shoots.

My brush kit also goes inside the prep bag. I really love this brush holder since it holds so much brushes. :) I always have bad dreams I forget my brush set when in shoots. QUE HORROR!

I love having different sizes of Stippling Brushes because they are so versatile, they can be used on liquid, creams and my favorite way of using them with powder or blush. :)

This is what the small train case looks like when opened. Since my next make up gig doesn't require a mirror, i decided to bring this one along.

The top 2 layers are where I store individual pans. On the left are powder foundations, cream wheels and cream blushes while on the right are blushes.

Powder Foundations

Blushes

When open, i store the individual eye shadows that haven't been depotted, eye liners, lipstick palette, eye brow powders and random tools.

On the other side I keep the cream foundations, concealers, translucent powders transferred to small sifters, eye shadow palettes, random blushes and bronzers and tube products.

Here's the bottom part of the train case where I keep big palettes and make up stored in bags to lessen clutter.

MAC PRO Palettes
28 Neutral Palette
120 Palette
32 Lipstick Palette
Random NARS GWP items

I prefer keeping make up in tubes and pencils stored in little bags to prevent the products from spilling everywhere. I separated them into 3 bags. The first bag on top (pink) has all my pencils from eye liners and lip pencil. The bottom left bag has lip glosses and lip tubes while the botton right clear plastic has mascaras and MAC brow sets.

Inside the pencil bag, my Styli Style pencils are a staple and the Prestige Total Intensity eye liner. :)

On shoots where I know I will be needing a portable mirror, I bring along my lighted mallet. But it can be really heavy so I only bring it on certain gigs.

Here's what it looks like resting on its little table. It still has a couple of make up items that I didn't transfer to the smaller train case since I wouldn't be needing them. :)

I hope you guys enjoyed looking at how I pack for make up gigs. I really enjoy what I do and have invested a lot in my equipment. That's why I'm also OC with my stuff. And the train case is great way of auditing your things when at an event or at a shoot. I personally know when something is missing and is out of place. hehe It's hard to lose stuff and build a kit, so as much as possible I try to be very organized and really oc with my things. hehe :)

Studio Shoots with Rommell Torres

Hey girls, just want to share with you some recent studio shoots with Photographer Rommell Torress. I have 2 sets with him with 2 separate models. This was also done in 2 separate shoots.

I'm really happy with the outcome of the photos. Here they are:

The first shoot was with Sheena Ramos, she was looking to update her portfolio hence the set up for a studio shoot. Yours truly did Sheena's Hair and Make Up. She had tons of photos and I'm still waiting for the others, as for now, here's what I have from her shoot:

The next shoot done was with Canadian Jenny Cliche. Yours truly also did her hair and make up. Here are some of the pics from her set:

Isn't she a natural? I'm really loving the photos since she looks like she came out from a catalog Mag. Can't wait to do more shoots like these. :)

On another hand, I have been on quite a hiatus from blogging due to unexpected hectic scheds. I will be on track very soon with the Dr. Jart BB Creams reviews. I'm road testing them now and can't wait to share my thoughts about them. :)

Woman Today 27 @ 27

A week back, I together with Maui was invited to do make up in our alma mater LCI for a fashion show. This fashion show was for the anniversary of Woman Today Magazine. The special part about this fashion show is that the clothes being featured by the models are done by fashion students of LCI and one designer happens to be my fellow classmate in Artistic Make Up Claudine Enriquez. :)

Congrats Claudine amazing work!! :)

Here are some pics of KC Gonzales, the model that I did make up for. :)

Here are some photos borrowed from Claudine Enriquez during the Fashion Show. :)

It was such a wonderful experience, congrats to all the designers for a sucessful show! :)
